Elder Beadle

A little letter from Mom:

Dear Elder Beadle,

So many people have told me that they pray for you every day. Including grandmas and grandpas and MarDiene. We saw her last night. She's been praying for you for years and we know how that's turned out so... :) she's still praying for you. Also... there was a pretty girl who brought me two purple pens today at church because she knows you like purple pens. <3 <3

This Wednesday I have a Dr. appt. This will kind of let us know how things are going. Hopefully we've got some bone growth on my shin. Maybe you could say some specific prayers for that. Also, on the way home from dropping you at the airport, I got a wild hair, pulled over and called Weber State(I'M GOING TO COLLEGE!!!) . You should come to Weber State with me when you get home. I talked to Lauren tonight at Marilee's birthday party. She's helping me register. She's awesome that way. Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to pay for this.

I'm so excited to hear about your week. Give me some details. Have you had a chance to go to the temple? Do you have everything you need? I sent a little box last week. But apparently I have to send another one soon because you left your CTR rings here. And ya know, the purple pens.

Are you able to look at the blog? I am trying to keep it simple because it would be really awesome to document your whole mission.

I love you so much. You are missed. Keep the faith, my Elder.

Love, Mom >(:/:)<

A long letter from Wade(skip to the pictures if you want):

yeah, let me know. I hope serving the Lord will help with your leg. that would be awesome. also, thank you so much for the prayers. they've been wonderful. i've felt them.

that's cool! maybe I will go to weber. dunno. hope they have a good music program or something. that would be awesome.

no chance to go to the Preston temple yet. it's being cleaned for the next two weeks. thankfully I'll have three weeks here in the MTC, so we will be able to go the last week. p-day is on Tuesday here in the Preston MTC.

some details: i'm district leader. I have one companion who can't stop flirting with the sisters for three minutes. I love my comp, and i realize that that's a story I've created. letting it go haha. my other companion is Elder Chand, from Fiji. it took him three days to get here with delays and such. it was crazy. got here all red eyed, hadn't slept much at all. i was able to give him a blessing just barely for his back because he hurt it during basketball. it was awesome.

being district leader, we've got some time to specifically speak to our districts. I shared that through the atonement, the Lord empties our lives, essentially helping us unbecome what we've become so that he can make us who we need to be n stuff. it was great.

After the trip here, I was sick, feeling incredibly nauseated. debilitatingly so. the food didn't help either. it all felt fake. tasted fake. anyway, some of the elders who will be serving in Germany offered to give me a blessing. much needed. the sickness still lasted two more days, but drastically less intense. it's gone now.

my class teachers are great. probably the greatest. I love them so much. their names are Brother Peel and Brother Webb.

i really do understand my comp's struggle with flirting. there is one sister in our district who is... wayyy attractive and wayyy spiritual. i'll probably marry her when i get off my mission. haha. crushin' on her a little bit, but that's NOT why I am here! i'm focused on giving the Lord all of my heart right now.

we get to go to town today. and yeah, i'm buying toothpaste with fluoride in it... i know i know. but elmo just doesn't keep my breathe smelling or tasting nice at all... also suits here are supposedly really cheap. 30 pounds or something. don't know why.

also, it's not cold here at all. what do you think? send you back one of my jackets? give it to another elder?

more later from Wade: Went to town today. bought stuff, went to kfc. love the elders here. I love my teachers. it's so foggy here, i love it. these pictures don't give it any justice. it was kind of cold. i needed a hat to keep my ears warm. though, to be fair, i will be traveling further north where it's colder. maybe i will wait until then to see if i should send my coat back. all the cars are so small. still getting used to the whole driving on the left thing. also, double decker busses just make sense.

making friends here is pretty easy. everyone is nice. i'm missing my constant ability to practice piano. gotta make sure my companion wants to be there too. so i usually end up eating quickly and then just playing the piano in the cafeteria.

We got a new MTC President. The transition isn't too bad. though i was really loving president Preston. good guy. i'm sure i'll love President Bunker, too.
anyway. if i think of anything else, I'll email you later today. when you're awake ;) how important is it that i keep everybody up to date? even though having the keyboard on my tablet makes emailing a ton easier, not really sure that emailing is going to be my favorite part of mission. what if you just take details from my email to you? and then put that in the blog? would that work?  i get the feeling that this is really mostly just between the Lord and me. people don't need to know, and when they need to know, i'll tell them. ya know? unless, of course, that since I created myself as "love" that means sharing of myself with other people. by emailing them.

love you, mom

response from Mom: I will put the important and interesting stuff on the blog. At least I hope it will be interesting. It is interesting to me.

He's really alive!!

Brother Peel's name tag, obviously
Lorinda's blog notes: I will try to get Wade to label his pictures. Those are awesome English street pix, but i wish I knew what they were. Do you think I should correct his capitalization? I often don't capitalize things as a style choice, but I plan on publishing this and if he's just being lazy... Also, what do you think of including my letters and news to Wade? Obviously I haven't included my whole letter, but I think some of it might be interesting for him later, looking back on his mission, what happened back home while he was serving. What are your thoughts? You can reply to this post or message me on FB or text my phone. Thanks for reading. I'm looking forward to documenting and sharing this experience. I kept up with Will's mission for almost 5 months. We'll see how this goes :)

And We Have Lift-Off

2016-1-10
Dear Elder Beadle,
I trust that you found some other Elders to travel with. It was so strange to send you off all alone like that. I wanted to says so many things to you. Things I forgot to say or say often enough. Things I want to make sure you know. As much as I joke about it, I really will miss you. I already miss you. It's so strangely quiet here.

First, some things I admire about you that I think will make you successful and happy on Mission and in Life.
I like how you drive. I love that you strive to keep your passengers safe and comfortable. Your Dad was like that.
I love how you are always striving for knowledge and understanding. I love when you light up as you learn a new concept.
I love your passion for music. I'm so proud of how hard you have worked to develop your musical gift. It will open doors and soften hearts.
I love your tender heart.

You will be a good missionary and I would rather have you be good than great.
Remember that everyone has something to teach you. And they may or may not be interested in what you have to teach them. That isn't your concern. Let them contribute to you, even if you consider them less trained or less educated or farther from spiritual truths. If they feel heard and understood and cared about, they will be more likely to be interested in what you can contribute to their life.
Clean up after yourself. In the very act. Don't let dishes sit. Don't ever put your clothes on the floor or the chair or the bed or the table. Rinse your toothpaste out of the sink.
Be generous with your time and your effort.
Brush your teeth. Wear your retainer. I know. I know. You do.
Memorize the 4th section of the Doctrine and Covenants. Not sure why you are resisting this. :)
I'm going to send a package soon of all the medicine I meant to send with you. Is there anything else you need me to send?

I'm sure I'll think of more. Write me as soon as you arrive. I'm kind of waiting up :).

Love, Mom

Countdown

I have enjoyed watching people love you and support your choice to serve for these 2 years. Here are some of your friends' goodbye posts:

Will: I'm so thankful for my brother, Wade, who has been the utmost example of raw priesthood power and spiritual intelligence in preparing for his service to God. He is amazing. I had the most strange feeling when I called him "Elder Beadle" on our last phone call through his baby cry face I could almost hear a much younge version of Wade shouting out "I HOPE THEY CALL ME ON A MISSION!" He is well prepared and carries a great message for all to hear.

Connor: Wade, you're a good man and a good friend. I love the fact that we've been able to pick up our friendship like nothing has changed, no matter how much time has passed. You're going to be a great missionary. You've shown me what it looks like when someone has a close relationship with the Savior, and I can't wait to see the miracles that take place when
the people in England see that in you too.

JD: I'll miss him. But I didn't want to say or do anything that would make him cry before he left... I mean, that cry... Amiright? ;)          He'll be an awesome missionary. Love the kid.

This must have been at Jake's and Nairn's birthday party at the bowling alley. Justin, Natalie and Kyle McMillan, Jeremy and Ashley Barneck, Megan, Will and Lauren. Wade is down front with a nylon rope holding up his pants.
Nairn: Wade, I saw the Stake Presidency leaving your house about 10 pm last night. I have a feeling I know why. What an awesome experience. Best of luck to you, Elder.
You're a good man!

Elders Fisk and Hunton served in The West Indies with your Dad
It's nearly jumping off time. I'd say good luck Elder Beadle, but you won't need luck. You have the Spirit of the Lord. You also have your father's "teaching voice". You are going to do amazing things for the people on the other side of the pond.
God bless, till we meet again.

Megan: Sure am gonna miss him 💘

Leeds, England is a lucky place :'))

Aliyah: "There goes my hero..."
           See you in two binky

  • epic_gymnast24(Karlee)My awesome brother has gone through a lot of hard working progress to go on a mission. he has had this greatest blessing to go on a mission and to share the gospel. I am so grateful for him to share the word. I know we get on the wrong page sometimes but I truly love him. He will be an amazing missionary. #seeyouin2years #missionary#sharethegospel

God be with you till we meet again. #familiesareforever
